I am concerned with relationships – our own and in the world around us. Informed by sights, sounds, nature, conversations, poetry, music, wise people and culture in general, I translate the feelings of this daily stimulation into my intuitive, non-objective paintings. I paint the unseen. By using layers of paints and gestural marks, I employ a process of erasure and abrasion to emulate an ambiguous history, asking the viewer to find their own definitions of the work and place in it. Currently, I’m exploring containment, limitations and ways to break through physical and mental barriers to a freedom of ideas and expression. I believe quite strongly that visual art should not only be seen but felt in order to touch life’s inexplicable mysteries.
