Bumin Kim

For Bumin Kim, thread and string become the media to explore many of the same questions usually investigated with paint. In Walk the Sky, Kim’s work examines the nature of line beyond the two-dimensional surface into three-dimensional space. While thread and string are usually synonymous with the utilitarian actions of weaving and stitching, here they emphasize the energy, delicacy, and grace found in painting. These works shift, undulate, and pulse towards us, declaring themselves as entities emancipated from the confines of flatland, and now poised and vibrating just above the surface.

About the Artist

Originally from Korea, Bumin Kim received her MFA in drawing and painting in 2015 from the University of North Texas and remains in North Texas as an active member of the contemporary art community. In addition to numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Texas, she has been featured at the Dallas Art Fair and Art Aspen. Her work is included in both public and private collections in Texas and throughout the United States.

Para Bumin Kim, el hilo y la cuerda convierten en medios para explorar muchas de las mismas preguntas que normalmentes se investigan con la pintura. En Camina El Cielo, el trabajo de Kims examina la naturaleza de la línea más allá de la superficie bidimensional hacia el espacio tridimensional. Si bien el hilo y la cuerda suelen ser sinónimos de las acciones utilitarias de tejer y coser, aquí enfatizan la energía, la delicadeza y la elegancia que se encuentran en la pintura. Sobre La Artista

Originaria de Corea, Bumin Kim recibió su maestría en dibujo y pintura (MFA) en 2015 de la Universidad del Norte Texas y permanece en el Norte Texas como miembro activo de la comunidad de arte contemporáneo. Además de numerosas exposiciones individuales y colectivas en todo Texas, ha aparecido en la Feria de Arte de Dallas y en Art Aspen. Su obra está incluida en colecciones públicas y privadas en Texas y en todos los Estados Unidos.
