A gifted comedienne and captivating storyteller, Ruby Nelda Perez brings the one-woman play by Rodrigo Duarte Clark to hilarious life.
In the town of Salsipuedes (“get-out-if-you-can”), Doña Rosita invites you to the last supper as she gets ready to vacate her little restaurant and home. Forced out to make room for the new shopping mall, Rosita reflects on life in the Barrio and beyond.
Ruby Nelda Perez opens up a whole new world to the majority of Austin theatergoers. There is very little bi-lingual theater performed in Austin, and opportunities to hear the stories of Chicano/Latino writers are particularly rare.
Perez is a San Antonio-based actress who performs bilingually in English and Spanish. She has toured throughout the U.S. and Latin America and has received several awards including Best Actress at the Chamizal International Theater Festival.
