Artist Statement
Painting reflects states of consciousness that emerge from the currents in the human mind and resolve to states of spiritual reckoning.
CROPPED SOUL (SOLE) SURVIVOR
CROP(PED): to cut off prematurely. SOUL: the moral or emotional nature of man, a vital or essential part. SURVIVOR: one who continues to remain in existence after an event. SOLE: without another or others.
SONG CRIES THE RESURRECTION
SONG: the act or art of singing poetry; verse. CRY (IES): a loud vocal sound uttered by a man or an animal expressing pain, anger, fright; the shedding of tears. RESURRECTION: the state of having risen from the dead; coming back from life.
SPORT FOR 40 INTEREST
SPORT: any activity or experience that gives enjoyment or recreation for 40: a small number when we think of the world’s population. INTEREST: social or political influence; a right or claim to something.
The darkness and the pain of the paintings was comforting …… the darkness and the pain of the womb was comforting …… the feelings were sacred, the intellectualizing of them was profane.
