First Annual Members Exhibition and Holiday Gift Show
Women & Their Work proudly announced our First Annual Members Exhibition. This exhibition featured work by innovative Texas artists, selected from our Members Slide Registry by the distinguished curator, Annette Carlozzi, the then newly appointed curator of Contemporary Art at the Archer M. Huntington gallery at the University of Texas.
To celebrate this new event, Women & Their Work held a reception for the curator and exhibit artists from 6 to 8 p.m. on November 14th.
Due to the high quality of work submitted by 176 artist members, Carlozzi selected 37 artists for two member shows.
The artists selected for the November show were: Claire Ankenman, Helmut Barnett, Jill Bedgood, Laurel Butler, Benita Carr, Gail Cadmun Dawson, Nine Francois, Lilian Garcia-Roig, Dixie Friend Gay,Yvonne Leonard, Rosemary Meza, Lynn Randolph, Sally Saul, Naomi Schlinke, Margaret Simpson, Fannie Tapper, Jennifer Ulrich, and Sydney Yeager.
W&TW invited important regional curators and gallery directors to jury the exhibition each year. The annual exhibition was one way W&TW brought members’ work to the attention of influential people in the art scene and also created dynamic showings of the work done by regional artists.
