It’s About Design
Women & Their Work presented over 50 of Texas’ finest artists, architects, artisans, and designers to create works with a strong emphasis on design. It’s About Design included unique, high-quality design pieces such as tables, chairs, lamps, vases, glassware, cabinets, screens, and jewelry as well as architectural drawings. Some participant also made boxes, picture frames, and wearable art.
The gala opening of It’s About Design was held on September 18th. There was something for everyone who collects unusual household items, design items, and functional or decorative art objects!
Participating Architects included: Robert Steinbomer, Emily Little, Kevin Alter, Lars Stanley, Elizabeth Salaiz, Linda Johnston, Bethany Ramey, Tom Hurt and others. Several Architect/ Artist teams will also create works on display including: Steven & Marjorie Moore, Steven Dvorak & Tamara Mewis, and Britton & Naomi Schlinke.
Participating artists and artisans included: Margo Sawyer, Beverly Penn, Robert Peeples Jr., Peter and Sally Saul, Sydney Yeager; Connie Arismendi, Kathleen Ash, Claudia Reese & Phil Martin, Joseph Zambarano, Andrew Colquitt, Leticia Huerta, Dale Whistler, Jill Bedgood, John Christensen, T. Paul Hernandez, Rejina Thomas, Bob Wade, and many others.
The proceeds from this sale were used for artist fees for our 1998/99 exhibition season.
