Broken Symmetries
Thu Aug 9, 2007 - Sat Sep 15, 2007
Bash views the making of art through the lens of science and combines the role of artist and investigator. She observes patterns in the natural world and links them to philosophical, linguistic, and scientific theories. Broken Symmetries is informed by her years of research manifested in photographs, drawings and text. Bash’s photographs are at once arresting and beautiful, altering the viewer’s perspective in order to expand their perception of the world. Her work seamlessly transects disciplines; her photographs are poetic, drawings a tool for investigation and writings visually stimulating. All disciplines work together to explore the relationships between natural phenomena, geometric symmetries, and symmetries of thought.
