Stitch in Time, curated by Joan Davidow, director of The Dallas Center for Contemporary Art (The Dallas Contemporary), features nine women artists working in fiber. The broad array of artists’ materials encompasses everything from wool yarn, embroidered thread, monofilament line, felt, upholstery fabric, vinyl, and recycled thread.

The nine artists presented hearken back to the proverb, a stitch in time saves nine. The notion of nine reminds us it is better to spend a little time dealing with issues as they arise than to wait too long to solve a major problem. In their playful and contemplative ways, these artists address their artistic concerns using their hands with fiber and thread.
