Women Envision
Women & Their Work and the Austin Contemporary Visual Arts Association presented an Art Evening on Saturday, October 13, when they opened exhibitions of new work by central Texas artists. Women & Their Work presented Women Envision: Central Texas Artists’ Tour at St. Edward’s University Atrium Gallery. ACVAA opened The Citation, at Designer Space Gallery.
Women & Their Work’s exhibition, Women Envision: Central Texas Artists’ Tour, featured the work of eleven Austin and San Antonio artists. The exhibition was selected by Becky Duval Reese of the University of Texas Huntington Art Gallery; it featured black and white and color photography, as well as painting and mixed media work. Exhibiting artists were Amy Blakemore, Laurel Butler, Michelle Campbell, Deborah Osborn Cook, Teresina B. Guerra, Alma Haertlein, Barbara Hagen, Phyllis Liedeker, Janet R. Roesler, Linda Schlecht, and Ellen Wallenstein.
The Austin Contemporary Visual Arts Association presented The Citation, an exhibition of forty-one works in mixed-media by thirty-two regional artists, at Designer Space. Jurors for The Citation were Anne Alexander of the Charlton Gallery in San Antonio, Rock Kershaw of the Cultural Arts Council in Plano, and James Weaver of the Tyler Museum of Art.
