Women of the Big State
Sponsored by Women & Their Work, Women of the Big State exhibited works by 46 artists from throughout the state. Their techniques included drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and fiber art. Juried by Lisa Phillips, associate curator of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the exhibition was selected from a statewide call for entries that produced work submitted by 619 artists. Phillips called the exhibition “a startling cross-section of styles and subjects” Her final selection for the show was made after viewing original work.
