About the Artists
Soledad Fernandez-Whitechurch was born in Paraguay and grew up between there, Argentina, and the United States. Facing language and cultural barriers during childhood as a result of being an immigrant, she started experimenting with art as a way to communicate her sense of optimism and sunny outlook. Her work is an exploration of past, present, and possibility through the lens of Latin identity, and it is collected in the United States, Kuwait, Paraguay, Argentina, and Canada. She has worked with Big Red Sun, HSU Office of Architecture, Macy’s, and other retail and private clients. When she is not painting, she enjoys gardening, learning about Ancient Rome, and fostering kittens.
Ann Flemings was introduced to painting at age seven by her grandmother and has not stopped creating since. She now calls herself a contemporary abstract painter and has a studio at the Canopy complex. She is represented by Artworks Gallery in Austin and Envy Interiors in Baton Rouge, LA. Her work has been shown in Kansas City, Dallas and Austin. She helps coordinate the monthly Open Canopy studio events at Canopy and recently served on the board of Big Medium. She holds a BFA in graphic design and an MA in Sociology.
Caroline Walker is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work explores the meeting point between traditional materials and new technology. She is passionate about experimenting with new tools, processes and mediums that may offer possibilities for conveying her message. One long standing theme in her work has been escape, and exploration of dream worlds. The uncertainty of recent times has brought new meaning and inspiration to this concept. In her current dreamscape series she captures brief scenes from the subconscious and turns them into photo composite pieces where viewers can escape their real-world issues. If only for a few moments they can lose themselves in these extraordinary surreal, peaceful, and whimsical, otherworldly scenes.
