About the Artists
Lisa Choinacky (STOP 460) is an Austin based visual artist. Her work finds the calmness within repetition, connectivity & symmetry. She earned a MFA from Ohio University and has exhibited at Northern-Southern, Okay Mountain, Fresh Up Club, CoLab in Austin, TX; Box 13, Houston, TX; Big Car, Indianapolis, IN & Civilian Art Projects, D.C. She has curated at Women & Their Work Gallery and has the participated in the Fusebox Festival.
Malina Cipleu (STOP 254) was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and is a contemporary glass artist based in Austin, Texas. Having completed her Bachelor’s in Psychology in Romania, she embarked on an immersive exploration of advanced kiln-forming classes from 2012 to 2018. This period of study, under the mentorship of internationally renowned artists, became the crucible where her distinct style took shape. The intersection of psychology and glass art laid the foundation for her artistic expression. Cipleu’s artistic journey is marked by a commitment to pushing kiln glass boundaries and a harmonious fusion of storytelling and craftsmanship. In 2023, she had the opportunity to co-curate “Beginnings, Stories in Fused Glass” at Artworks West 6th Gallery, which showcased the work of 50 kiln-formed glass artists from across Texas. Passionate about sharing her knowledge, Cipleu teaches kiln-forming glass techniques from powder wafer design to kiln carving at Helios Fused Glass Studio in Austin, Texas. A member of the Contemporary Glass Society and Glass Art Society, she collaborates with art enthusiasts globally, embracing a dialogue between her art and diverse audiences.
Jieun Beth Kim (STOP 181) received her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art at the University of Texas at Austin (2013) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design (2009). She has exhibited regionally, nationally, and internationally, and notable recent exhibitions include the Korea Art Show in Suwon, South Korea (2022), a solo exhibit at CANVAS ATX in Austin, TX (2022), and at ARTIFACT Gallery, New York, NY (2021). She participated in the Desert Door Residency hosted by Big Medium and Desert Door Distillery in Drayden, TX (2022). Exploring themes ranging from the body to spirit, memory to personal truth, individual to collective, and singular to universal, Jieun Beth threaded concepts between body identity, the identity of memory, and the identity of impermanence. She investigated the influence of beliefs on perceptions and how we identify ourselves and others through perspectives. From 2018 – 2022, Jieun Beth started and led the exhibition program at the award-winning Austin Central Library wearing many hats as the curator, art administrator, and art installer.
Keva Richardson (STOP 239) was raised in a small town in the Texas Panhandle. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Education, specializing in art and languages. Following graduation, she moved to Austin, TX and began taking art classes from St. Edwards University, the University of Texas, and the Art School at Laguna Gloria, along the way discovering herself as an artist. After several years of dedicated study, she established a studio in East Austin and began her career as a professional artist. Her artwork can be found in private collections throughout the United States and abroad. Richardson’s experience growing up in the West Texas landscape informs her current work. The memories of long drives and wide-open panoramas are uniquely rendered with an abstract impressionism perspective. Her work attempts to strike a balance between the sometimes-chaotic world we inhabit and the beauty of the natural world that surrounds us. She believes observing the richness and wonder of the landscape presents a shared experience and can inform and connect us to ourselves and to one another.
