About the Panelists

Statement for artist Connie Arismendi and Director of Flatbed Contemporary Press Katherine Brimberry:

Collaboration is at the heart of my work as an artist and Director of Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking. I wanted to collaborate with Connie Arismendi and assist her in the making of her latest work. She has been incorporating text and images of clouds that explore meaning and ambiguity. The collaboration developed into one of discovery. Each image led to new words, with experimental inkings, and new methods; some that surprised us all.

Statement from Belinda Casey:

Making art is my passion, intaglio has a top place in that hierarchy, and I enjoy sharing that knowledge and those skills with others. I am able to do all at Flatbed Press as I facilitate workshops, teach some workshops and make my etchings.  I love to make etchings at the Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking Community Shop. My work is about a narrative fragmenting of images with a confluence of dualities. I delight in investigating double entendre and dichotomies like beauty & calculation, bitter and sweet, humor and seriousness.

Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking is dedicated to creating and promoting the art and craft of the original print, and to inform and broaden the audience for it.

PrintAustin is an artist-led nonprofit organization working to showcase traditional and contemporary approaches in printmaking. Our mission is to share our enthusiasm for printmaking by helping galleries, universities, and artists curate, exhibit, and promote works on paper and to engage a wider audience through artist talks, signings, panels, printmaking demonstrations, and print-focused art happenings.
