Hedwige Jacobs

In If I could, I would cover everything with my drawings, Hedwige Jacobs invites viewers into an almost meditative state of observation, finding pleasure in unexpected encounters, unassuming materials, and common places. In her drawn surfaces, video installation, and cut patterns, figures move about, hover on the edge of the impossible, and reconfigure themselves in endless variations drawn from everyday interactions.

About the Artist

Hedwige Jacobs was born in Singapore. She holds a BFA from the Royal Academy of Arts, The Netherlands and an MFA from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Jacobs’ work has recently show at Box 13 ArtSpace, DiverseWorks, Lawndale Art Center, and Sawyer Yards in Houston, TX; the Amarillo Museum of Art in Amarillo, TX; Friedman Benda Gallery and The Drawing Center in New York City; DAiS at Galeri Utama and ION Art Gallery in Singapore. She currently lives and works in Houston.

En Si pudiera, cubriría todo con mis dibujos, Hedwige Jacobs invita a los espectadores en un estado de observación casi meditativo, encontrando placer en encuentros inesperados, materiales sencillo y lugares comunes. En sus superficies dibujadas, instalación de vídeo y patrones cortados, las figuras se mueven, flotan al borde de lo imposible y reconfigurarse en infinitas variaciones extraídas de las interacciones cotidianas.

Sobre la Artista

Hedwige Jacobs nació en Singapur. Tiene una licenciatura en Belles Artes (BFA) de la Regio Academia de Artes de los Países Bajos y una maestría en Belles Artes (MFA) de la Academia de Belles Artes de Pensilvana. La obra de Jacobs se ha expuesto recientemente en Box 13 ArtSpace, DiverseWorks, Lawndale Art Center y Sawyer Yards en Houston, TX; el Museo de Arte de Amarillo en Amarillo TX; Friedman Benda Gallery y The Drawing Center en la ciudad de Nueva York; DAiS en Galeri Utama e ION Art Gallery en Singapur. Actualmente vive y trabaja en Houston.
