Living in the Landscape

Join us on Wednesday, March 4th, from 7pm to 8:30pm for a panel discussion where we will consider the impact of the built environment on the way we perceive nature. Sara Frantz, whose paintings and drawings are currently on view at Women & Their Work, has taken this as one of the central questions in her work.

Panelists include:

Norma Yancey, AIA – Principal – Sidetracked Studio
Norma Yancey holds a Masters Degree in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis.   Sidetracked Studio is a full service architecture firm founded on the idea of overlap, realizing that architecture and design are far richer when they move outside their own parameters and allow themselves to be influenced by the world around them.

Alisa West – Landscape Designer – Westshop
Alisa West received her Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. Westshop is a full service landscape design firm that specializes in residential and small scale commercial projects.  Its work is based on the principle that the design of outdoor spaces must be considered both artistically and technically and within the context of the environment, the architecture and the cultural setting.

Murray Legge, FAIA – Murray Legge Architecture
Murray Legge is a graduate of the Cooper Union School of Architecture in New York City. Employing a creative process that deeply considers practical issues of design, his firm examines how materials, space, and light create places that resonate and engage. This award-winning work ranges from residential projects to religious and educational facilities; it reveals the extraordinary opportunities that exist in the ordinary.
