Marilyn Waligore

Marilyn Waligore created an electric fantasy world, peopled by surreal, sometimes horrific characters rendered in high-drama technicolor. Using figurines and objects from fairy tales and games, she probed the stories of “Cinderella” and “The Old Maid” to mischievously challenge visual representations of both the ideal and outcast woman. Waligore skewed the traditional still life genre to gleefully stand cultural conventions on their heads.
