Passages

Fri Jul 18, 1980 - Sun Jul 20, 1980

PASSAGES, a series of workshops, readings, performances, and other related art events took place in a context of feminist research, group support, and cooperative activity. It extended the definition of an art event to include consciousness-raising and the possibilities of cultural transformation. As documented by Metis, a literary and visual arts magazine, it was an event in which group process and relationships deriving from it were the central achievements. It had immediate effects–the PASSAGES Environment at Laguna Gloria Art Museum–and lasting effects–the ties of friendship and work among participating artists and members of the community who spent several hours at the PASSAGES Environment viewing the art installations and attending the performances.

The three-day festival included a series of workshops, readings, performances and art installations.
