Carmella Jarvi

Carmella Jarvi transforms spaces through her glass commissions and public art. This McColl Center and Hambidge Center alumna is fascinated with intersections of glass, light, water and the natural world. Receiving several hospital glass commissions in 2021, she finally was able to create larger scale works offering healing to those in need. Her sincere passion for people pushed her to work with many public and private art organizations over the years.

In 2022, she left her NC home for the Texas Hill Country, where she is inspired by the bright TX light and rugged natural beauty. Never realizing how much water Texas has… she did not know how much she’d love this harsh land. Jarvi continues her larger healthcare glass work, while exploring other creative outlets. Cool thing is this is she’s not sure where this new work is heading. Water is universal. It can heal and connect us. Glass is both ubiquitous and ethereal. There’s a kind of magic to glass… just like water and light.
