Catherine Richardson
Catherine Richardson was born in England and immigrated to the USA at age 27. She currently lives and works in Austin, Texas and London, England. She has a BFA in studio arts from Surrey Institute of Art and Design, UK and received her MFA in studio arts from John F. Kennedy University in California. Formally trained as a goldsmith and a blacksmith, painting, printmaking and drawing now define her art practice. Her work explores dimensions of deep geological time; geomorphology and how earth’s movements, climate changes and human intervention affect the scaffolds of landscape.
Richardson has received a fellowship award from Surrey Institute of A&D, UK; the SCEAA (Sonoma County Emerging Artist Award) in 2005; Visions Of Science Award from Bath University in 2018. Her work is in several collections including Bath University, UK; Sonoma State University-The Benzinger collection, CA; Kerwin & Associates, Menlo Park, CA, Lewis Restoration Co, CA. plus several private collections. Her work has been exhibited in numerous venues including California, London, and Washington State.
