Ilna Colemere

Ilna Colemere is a San Antonio–based mixed-media artist whose work explores balance, duality, and the quiet tensions that shape human experience. Self-taught, she works intuitively, building layered abstract compositions informed by nature, material processes, and philosophical inquiry. Meaning emerges through repetition, disruption, and response rather than predetermined outcomes.

Her work has been exhibited in juried and solo exhibitions throughout Texas, including the San Antonio Art League + Museum, the Art Center of Corpus Christi, the Barshop Jewish Community Center, and The Mexican Cultural Institute. She is a recipient of Best of Show for The Art of Dining exhibition at the San Antonio Art League + Museum.

Beyond the studio, Colemere is deeply engaged in arts leadership and cultural stewardship. She created and leads the San Antonio Art League + Museum Library, serves as historian and archivist for the institution, and founded its Little Free Art Library dedicated exclusively to art books and creative access. She also serves as a docent and co-chairs the Members Gallery.

Her practice reflects a belief that art is both a personal inquiry and a shared cultural responsibility.
