Julia Verónica Salinas
Julia Veronica Salinas is a visual artist whose work bridges tradition and innovation, drawing on the timeless techniques of Impressionism and the emotive power of abstract expressionism. For over 18 years, Salinas has crafted a unique visual language that celebrates color, texture, and the raw beauty of human experience. Her art invites viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with the present—a rare and profound challenge in today’s fast-paced world. Born in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Salinas’ artistic journey began with the quiet influence of her maternal grandfather, whose creativity sparked her lifelong passion for expression. This early inspiration led Salinas to the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, where she immersed herself in the principles of Impressionism, later blending them with the bold, dynamic energy of abstract expressionism. Salinas’ medium of choice, oil on wood, allows her to explore depth and movement through the use of impasto techniques and the expressive strokes of the palette knife, creating work that is as tactile as it is visual.
Throughout her career, Salinas has exhibited in esteemed venues such as the Instituto Allende and E.C. Bell Gallery in San Miguel de Allende, and the Teatro de la Paz in San Luis Potosí. These exhibitions gave her the privilege of sharing her vision with diverse audiences while establishing a solid presence within Mexico’s art scene. In addition to her exhibitions, Salinas co-founded Subastart, a groundbreaking auction platform that supports emerging artists. From its very first edition, Subastart was a resounding success, introducing new voices to collectors and reaffirming her belief in the importance of nurturing artistic talent. Currently, her work focuses on The Power of Words, a series designed to address the difficulty of living in the present. Each painting features phrases like “You are here” or “I am here”, inviting viewers to pause and embrace the moment. As Salinas expands her practice to Texas, she is excited to connect with new audiences and collaborators, continuing to explore art’s ability to inspire reflection and connection across cultures.
