Kimberly Berriochoa
Kimberly Berriochoa started painting when she was 10. Around that same age, she also started disliking everything she painted. That, she know nows, is imposter syndrome, a voice lurking in her mind’s hallways always reminding her, ‘You’re no artist; you just draw.’ Berriochoa worked with acrylics for years until she stumbled upon gouache, a discovery that transformed her artistic perspective. The brushstroke became smoother, and expressing ideas felt more effortless.
Today, Berriochoa mixes gouache with a few other mediums like ink, watercolors, markers, and pencils. Her artistic expression leans towards surrealism, featuring bright and colorful depictions of figurative subjects, which embody an inspiring narrative—tackling the inspiration towards authenticity and mental health through the mediums of paint, imagination, and storytelling.
Just recently, Berriochoa started showing her work. Though, she is still working on calling herself an artist.
