Marcella Colavecchio was born in Stamford, Connecticut to Italian immigrant parents in 1987. She began her formal education in 2003 at Lyme Academy of Fine Art in Old Lyme, Connecticut where she studied Human Anatomy and Figure Drawing. Marcella has always been fascinated with psychology, perception, how we track the nature of reality, and how we each privately create the worlds we inhabit. She’s fascinated by the human mind and what it can do. Diving head-first into this passion, Marcella moved on to graduate from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelors of Science, focusing on Abnormal Psychology in 2009. Marcella believes that art can create real progress in challenging societal stigma and discrimination by celebrating social difference, diversity, and challenging attitudes.
Marcella’s pieces have been held at the University of Connecticut Alumni Gallery, the Contracommon Gallery in Bee Cave, TX and the Carriage Barn Art Center in New Canaan, CT.
