Sydney Parks
Sydney Parks is an interdisciplinary artist and Assistant Professor of Practice at The University of Texas at Austin. Her courses include Immersive Art Installations, Art Making in VR, Exploring User Interaction, and Code and Fabrication. Holding a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Houston, her career spans exhibitions, teaching, and public art. Early in her career, she served as Assistant Director at Anya Tish Gallery in Houston, taught as a Teaching Fellow at UH, and led a community-engaged “Prison Drawing” course for male inmates at the Huntsville Holliday Unit. Her practice includes
public art, from restoring a historic mural in Huntsville, Texas, to creating an outdoor mural in Ireland and designing a painted art car that won the Grand Trophy at the Houston Art Car Parade. Her work has been exhibited at the Blaffer Art Museum and Lawndale Art Center, with publications in HCE Review (Dublin) and R2: The Rice Review (Houston).
