

Yareth Fernández
Yareth Fernández González was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, México; they are a mixed media artist and arts educator. They earned a BA in Art at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College and a MFA at Michigan State University where they began to focus in installation art. Their work varies from small drawings to mixed media sculptures, installations with textiles, found objects, and unusual materials. In Texas, they have created both, temporary and permanent public art for the City of Austin. They have held a solo exhibition, The Wall and the Ocelot | El Muro y el Ocelote, at the Sam Z. Coronado Gallery at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center and also been part of Mexic-Arte Museum annual exhibition Emerging Latinx Artists YLA #24 Buen Vivir | Vivir Bien and ELA#25 Interseccion: Choque & Alivio | Intersection: Shock & Relief. Currently residing in Austin, TX.
