Beverly Penn: Foregrounding | Conversation and Book Signing
Join us for an evening with Beverly Penn in conversation with renowned curator, Dana Friis-Hansen. The artist’s new book, Foregrounding, which examines her expansive 30-year career, will serve as a touchstone for this lively conversation. The book, published by French & Michigan, will be available for purchase and signed by the artist.
Beverly Penn: Foregrounding is the first comprehensive examination of the artist’s career. Penn uses cast bronze to call attention to botanical systems and foreground the fundamental role of plants in human life. Penn’s accomplished body of work is richly illustrated and features scholarly essays by noted curator, Suzanne Ramljak and art historian, Kathryn Blair Moore, as well as an interview between Penn and botanist, Tanisha M. Williams.
This program is free & open to the public. RSVP is strongly encouraged.
