On December 14th at the Center for Women and Their Work, Catherine Davis will present the release of her latest album, Canticles for the Innocent, performed live by the artist and The Innocentia Quartet. This body of work is composed of three distinct song cycles, each exploring different facets of innocence, acceptance, and renewal.

A Study in Release explores the theme of accepting life’s unchangeable circumstances and finding resilience in surrender. Through a collaboration with visual artist Denise Prince, the performance will explore the themes of innocence, womanhood, and the liberation that comes from releasing control and accepting what emerges.

Song Cycle of Acceptance reflects on self-awareness, presence, and embracing life’s contradictions. Acclaimed dancer and choreographer Kaita Mrazek will bring this cycle to life with a live performance, expressing the emotional depth of the music through movement that enhances its themes.

Reclamation draws inspiration from nature’s cycles of destruction and rebirth, reflecting Davis’ own journey of renewal and growth. The Innocentia Quartet will perform without individual identification, emphasizing a faceless collective to mirror the thematic narrative of innocence, roles, and identity.
