Spirit of Discrimination | larí garcía
Thu Sep 3, 2026

Join us for Crosscurrent, a special evening of readings presented in partnership with Alienated Majesty Books and held on the final day of larí garcía’s Spirit of Discrimination. Three writers will read works of their choosing inspired by themes of incantation, displacement, giving voice to the voiceless, and hauntings—all crosscurrents in the exhibition.

Featuring:
Kōan Brink
Daphne DiFazio
Miles Matis-Uzzo

Hosted by:
larí garcía and C. Rees

Alienated Majesty will also pop up with a curated selection of books based on the themes of the exhibition. Come listen, linger, and experience Spirit of Discrimination one last time.

This event is free and open to the public. RSVP with the form below.

ABOUT THE WRITERS

Kōan Brink was born and raised in Minnesota. They received their MFA in Poetry from Columbia University and are currently pursuing a PhD in English at UT Austin, focusing on late medieval and early modern devotional poetry. They also work as the Graduate Curatorial Assistant in Early Books and Manuscripts at the Harry Ransom Center. Koan’s most recent chapbook is Pale Interiors (The Song Cave, 2024).
Daphne DiFazio is a poet, performer, and editor studying poetry in Texas. She currently serves as co-ambassdor for the Austin chapter of the Authors Guild.
Miles Matis-Uzzo is a visual artist, perfumer, and writer who creates worlds defined by digestion; spaces where the body, its emotional-environmental circumstances, and geologic time coalesce into a single, poetic system. They participated in readings at Alienated Majesty and Northern-Southern, Austin, TX; Larrie, New York, NY, and published their debut chapbook, Dog Custody, with BottleCap Press in 2026. Copies are available online and at Time Being Books, Austin, TX.
