Fresh from the Studio: Red Dot Edition
Fresh from the Studio invites W&TW artist members to share what they are working on now. In this virtual format, artists share work in progress, newly finished artworks, and recent or upcoming projects. Each presentation is about 10 minutes with time for your questions and comments afterwards. Fresh from the Studio is your chance to see what is new and hear from contemporary artists. This program is free and open to the public.
This segment of Fresh from the Studio will feature Red Dot Art Spree artists Hillary Cumberworth, Lindsay Shillington, Terri St.Arnauld and Nashelle Williams.
About the Artists
Hillary Cumberworth is an artist living and working in Austin. She received her BA from Southwestern University with a focus in sculpture. Cumberworth has spent much of her adult life living abroad in Dubai and across the United States in New York, San Antonio, and Houston. The life of an expatriate has provided Cumberworth with a thoughtful perspective on the world which is manifested in her sculptural work. Her work and life explore the common threads of human connection both universal and individual.
Lindsay Shillington is an artist based in Austin. Art is her second act. Shillington started painting during COVID and ultimately stepped away from a 20 year career as an Architect to pursue painting. While her early work was focused on still life and botanical painting, her practice has evolved to center on portraiture and figure studies.
Terri St.Arnauld’s work is predominantly hand-printed black & white or platinum, printed from negatives, but some years ago St.Arnauld became interested in Polaroid Transfers. St.Arnauld’s pieces are from that short-lived venture into the Polaroid Transfer process. The original images were all taken in Italy as 35mm slides. The slide is projected onto the film. The print is soaked until the image lifts, then transferred to paper and lifted from the water. These were not otherwise manipulated.
Nashelle Williams is a multidisciplinary artist based in Austin. Raised in the American South, her upbringing instilled in her a deep reverence for objects with history—rusted tools, worn textiles, and natural materials that subtly held stories. Her work is inspired by the everyday beauty of decay, the endurance of materials, and the emotional weight carried in the remnants we leave behind. Using rusted metals, handmade papers, and a tactile process of layering and erosion, she creates pieces that explore memory, transformation, and time. Her practice is deeply intuitive, rooted in observation and a desire to preserve what might otherwise be discarded or forgotten.
