Inspired by Everything You Ever: Performances by Deja Morgan & Daniel Sullivan

Join us for an afternoon of performance and reading inspired by Everything You Ever featuring “Objects in Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear” by Deja Morgan and “one hundred and ninety-three” by Daniel Sullivan.

While navigating her everyday life, academics, and working in predominantly white spaces, Deja processes the mental, emotional, and physical effects of microaggressions, an issue so pervasive yet so undetected. “Objects in Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear ” explore the continuous instances of “invisible” racism and the hypervigilence of her surroundings she must maintain.  Help Daniel figure out how everyday pains, injustices, and instances of life are actually art– or can be transformed into it in “one hundred and ninety-three.”

Bio: Deja Morgan is an actress, writer, and student activist based in Austin. She recently appeared as the lead character, Cherry Henry, in the world premiere of Dr. Lisa B. Thompson’s Monroe at the Austin Playhouse. Other notable credits include Romeo and Juliet, Satchel Paige and the Kansas City Swing, and Gypsy. Morgan has also worked as a featured extra in the “We Are” Film Series directed by B.B. Araya. In the spring of 2018, she created a devised performance titled “Back 2 Reality” as a part of the St. Edward’s Theatre Department annual solo thesis project, ‘Objectivity’.

Bio: Daniel Sullivan originally from Monterrey, Mexico is an artist and activist based in Austin.  He studied acting, design, and directing at St. Edward’s University, where he spearheaded the creation of the Theatre Equity Council– which creates conversation and change around diversity and inclusion at the Mary Moody Northen Theatre. He appeared in the U.S. premiere of ‘mouthful’, directed by Alexandra Bassiakou Shaw. He’s currently a manager at the Fomo Factory in downtown Austin, and works as a costume designer for theatre and film.
