Rosa Nussbaum (Freiburg, Germany, 1991) is a visual artist based in Austin, Texas.
She received her MFA in Studio Art: Transmedia from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018 and her BFA from Wimbledon College of Arts, London, UK in 2014. Rosa works at the intersection of performance and sculpture with an emphasis on interactivity and technology. Her work explores the place where the (female) body touches the institution. She has exhibited internationally including a commission for Glasgow International 2018, Glasgow, Scotland; Affordable Dreamhouse at the Visual Arts Center Austin, TX; Worldhack Installed at Babycastles Gallery, NYC, NY.
p1nkstar describes herself as the ultimate pop-star of the NOW! p1nkstar is most widely known through her multimedia live sets which, according to The Austin Chronicle, “create [a] world via music and conceptual shows mixing saccharine beats with subversive lyrics, tiaras with ball gags, and body hair with hypnotic ponytails […] a realm far removed from this dimension’s binaries,”! p1nkstar is most likely to be found posting on Instagram about herself, partying or her obsession with stayin’ cutie.
p1nkstar has recently performed with acts like LCD Soundsystem, Charli XCX, OSHUN, and Har Mar Superstar. Additionally, p1nkstar was one of the headlining acts for the 2017 edition of the gAyCL Music Festival; other festival performances include BABESFEST 2018 (BossBabesATX), OUTsider Fest 2018, New Media Art and Sound Summit (NMASS) 2018, ARTBASH 2017 (Austin Art Alliance) and SXSW 2017: Y’all or Nothing (Stargayzer Fest and Mouthfeel).
