Women & Their Work hosted “Portfolios,” the Second Annual Members Show of the Houston Center for Photography, July 9-August 7 at the Dougherty Art Center. “Portfolios” presented the work of ten Houston photographers, members of the Houston Center for Photography.

This was one in a series of exhibition exchanges between Women & Their Work and other Texas arts organizations. “Artists and audiences alike enjoy art from neighboring cities,” said Rita Starpattern, Women & Their Work Director. “Since Texas cities have much in common, and yet are very different in atmosphere and reputation, art exhibitions are a good way to see these differences & commonalities reflected in creative expressions.

“We are especially glad to host a show from the Houston Center for Photography, a vital artists’ organization, which has become a focal point for photographic activity in Texas,” she added.

The Houston artists whose portfolios were presented were David Crossley, Gary Fay, Gay Block, Jim Caldwell, Sally Horrigan, Paul Hester, Patsy Arcidiacono, Julia Milazzo, Muffy McLanahan, Sharon Stewart. The Houston Center for Photography is a nonprofit, member-run gallery and educational facility.
