First Impressions: Flatbed Press at Women & Their Work

First Impressions offers an engaging survey of printmaking by 30 women artists, showcasing 49 works produced at Flatbed Press. This collection honors the exceptional contributions of printmakers making work in Texas and highlights the diversity of creative approaches that define contemporary printmaking. Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking is dedicated to creating and promoting the art and craft of the original print, and to inform and broaden the audience for it. Flatbed provides educational programs, community access, independent and collaborative residencies and publishing opportunities for emerging and established artists. Flatbed seeks to engage the community through its exhibition program and increase the appreciation and understanding of the fine art print.

Women & Their Work fosters the artistic growth of women artists by encouraging them to make new, adventurous work and develops audiences for whom contemporary art is meaningful. Our mission is to ensure that diverse women artists are equitably represented in all forms of art. For 46 years, Women & Their Work has been a cornerstone of the Austin arts community and has actively developed the careers of more than 2,000 women artists, presenting hundreds of visual art exhibitions, music, dance and theater events, film festivals and education programs. Nationally recognized for the quality of its work, Women & Their Work has played an important role in the development of the visual and performing arts in Texas.

First Impressions (“Primeras impresiones”) ofrece un recorrido fascinante por la obra gráfica de
30 mujeres artistas, presentando 49 trabajos realizados en Flatbed Press. Esta colección rinde
homenaje a las excepcionales contribuciones de las grabadoras que trabajan en Texas y
destaca la diversidad de enfoques creativos que definen el grabado contemporáneo. La
